Volunteer Drivers Needed !

At South Northants Volunteer Bureau we urgently need volunteer car drivers especially in Brackley. We have over 395 active passengers living in the town who are primarily elderly people who find it difficult to get to essential medical or social care.

Our service is very popular with new passengers wanting to register on a daily basis. Unfortunately due to a shortage of drivers we have to put new passengers on a waiting list until we are in a position where we have more drivers and can fulfil any medical journeys that are required.

The Brackley Area Volunteer Car Service is managed by SNVB and the service helps those from Brackley and surrounding villages. Volunteer car drivers are paid mileage allowance and the voluntary role is totally flexible, with drivers choosing which journeys they would like to do, when and how often.

If you feel that you would be able to support this recruitment drive in anyway or if you would like anymore information then please do not hesitate to contact me.

If you are a carer or family member, we can help with family/residents NHS hearing aids – just bring the hearing aid along with their Hearing Aid Battery Book.

The sessions are ‘Drop-In’ with no appointment necessary.  At busy times, you may be asked to take a number to be seen in turn.

This pilot scheme is supported by NHS Audiology at Northampton and Central Milton Keynes, and is represented at the South Northants NHS Local Engagement Group.

Missed Appointments

In April there were 102 missed appointments, which wasted over 16 hours of surgery time.  Please ring to cancel your appointment if you cannot make it.  We also have a 24 hour cancellation line - 01280 704122.   Appointments can be cancelled online if you have registered with Emis Access and you can also cancel via text.  We do appreciate those patients who let us know they cannot attend their appointment, this enables other patients to use your appointment.

Please ensure we have an up to date mobile number so we can send a confirmation/reminder text about your appointment.
