Appointments

For non-urgent issues, please follow the guidelines below and choose the right service. An appointment may not be necessary.

This will help us to be more efficient by making an appointment available to you when you need it the most.

Routine GP Appointments and Urgent Medical Appointments

The quickest and easiest way for anyone to make an appointment is to use our new triage system, Rapid Health.

We are part of a pilot study which means this service is now available to anyone of any age and not just those over 16.

For under 16’s please choose the ‘Child Request’ option. Your request will then be triaged and actioned by a member of the team.

For over 16’s with a new medical problem, choose ‘Adult Medical Request’. You will be asked to complete a short form about your medical problem and you will then be offered a suitable appointment with the relevant clinician. Depending on your problem you may be offered an appointment with a GP, Nurse Practitioner or Physiotherapist.

For over 16’s with existing medical problems requiring follow up please choose ‘Questions and admin’ and ‘Ask a Question’ this will allow you to enter free text regarding your existing issue.
Rapid Health is open Monday to Friday from Midnight (12am) to 5.30pm (except bank holidays).

Telephone: 01280 704 122 between 8:30am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm on weekdays for those that are unable to use the app.

Nurse Appointments, Blood Tests and Other Services

There are still some types of appointments that you can make directly using the NHS App, for example:

  • Cervical Screening Tests (if you have had an invitation from screening or from us)
  • Blood Tests (this can only be done if this has been requested by the Doctor or Nurse)
  • Contraceptive Pill Checks
  • NHS Health Checks (if you have had an invitation from us)
  • B12 Injections
  • Asthma Reviews
  • NHS Health Checks (if you have had an invitation from us)

If you don’t have access to the app then please phone the surgery and our team will be happy to book this appointment for you.

Book Nurse Appointments, Blood Test and any other services via the NHS App.

What About Other Types of Routine Appointments?

For other routine appointments with our Nurses/HCA’s/Clinical Pharmacists which may include:

  • Dressings
  • Annual reviews
  • Travel vaccinations
  • Child immunisations

You can still contact our team on 01280 704 122 and they will be able to book these appointments for you.

Video Consultations

You can now opt to have your appointment with a Doctor by video.

Please ask when booking your appointment if you would prefer a video consultation rather than a telephone appointment. This video explains how this will work.

You will receive a text message a few minutes before your appointment to ensure you are in a suitable area to receive the call and will be able to connect to wifi.

Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)

You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.

To request a fit note please follow this link and choose ‘admin request’

Travel Vaccinations

Please phone the surgery and arrange an appointment as early as possible (at least 6 weeks before you travel) as a second appointment may sometimes be required with the practice nurse to receive some of the vaccinations. Some vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are also ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

Home Visits

If you are too ill to attend the surgery please try to ring before 10am so that we can arrange for a doctor to come and visit you at home.

These usually take place late morning or early afternoon. Wherever possible please try and attend surgery as there are better facilities for examination and treatment.

Change or Cancel an Appointment

Please give us as much notice as possible so we can offer your appointment to someone else.

Ways to cancel

  1. Telephone us on 01280 704 122 - You can leave a message at any time of day.
  2. Reply to your text reminder with the word "CANCEL" - Please ensure that your contact details are up to date.
  3. Cancel through the NHS App
